    He didn’t let his personal and community circumstances deter him. Like a phoenix, he rose from the ashes of poverty and squalor to become a household name. It is for that reason The Jobe Foundation saw it fitting to honour a man of his calibre.

    Pastor Aubrey Sibiya of The Jobe Foundation said, “We could not have honoured him in any other way except by staging what he liked most.

    “Mokoena lived his life as a music lover and cut his teeth with a local band called Melodi. He progressed further in his musical career when he was signed by Pure Magic and recruited by Sizwe Zako.

    “It was then when Vuyo worked with Rebecca Malope, who won a music talent show called Shell Road to Fame.
