1928-1962Hector Chevigny (1904-1965) was an American novelist, and radio and television dramatist. He was born on June 28, 1904, in Missoula, Montana, the son of French Canadians. Chevigny received a B.A. in 1927 from Gonzaga University. Beginning in Seattle, Washington, he developed a successful career as a writer for film, radio and television. His first work was a radio series called Pioneer. In 1935, he moved from Washington to Los Angeles to become the director of the script department at CBS Radio.
Chevigny's medical issues (detached retinas) led him to New York City to undergo multiple surgeries. He eventually went blind but continued to write.
Some of his more noted writings include The American Challenge (radio script, 1940, The Death of Kid Slawson (screenplay, 1952), Crabapple Saint (screenplay for Hallmark Summer Theatre, 1952), and My Eyes Have a Cold Nose (autobiography, 1946).
